Resilience Appoints Megan Hennessey as Executive Director

At our second annual Denim & Desserts event on Wednesday, April 24, we proudly announced our new Executive Director.

Since the fall of last year, our Board has been hard at work on the search for our next Executive Director. During that time, they selected our Program Director, Megan Hennessey as Interim. After an extensive search, the Board of Directors have selected Megan to become Resilience’s permanent Executive Director.

As Interim Director, Megan has admirably steered us through a time of transition, ensuring the continuity of our mission and operations. From her legislative lobbying efforts to securing crucial grant funding, she has been instrumental in championing the rights and well-being of survivors in Michigan.

Megan’s journey with Resilience began as a college intern, where she discovered her passion for advocacy. Over the past 16 years, she has dedicated herself to the cause, serving in various capacities, including Clinical Services Supervisor and, most recently, Program Director overseeing direct service and prevention staff.

Throughout her time at Resilience, Megan has displayed an unwavering commitment to trauma-informed care, empowerment, and organizational leadership. Megan has undergone extensive training for Executive Directors in preparation for this role and her expertise helps those beyond our organization. She also serves as a Peer Reviewer for Michigan’s Department of Victim Service’s Quality Assurance program, providing valuable insights and guidance on best practices to other domestic and sexual violence service agencies in our state.

“As we move into this new chapter together, I am more committed than ever to upholding the values that are the foundation of our organization and movement. I believe deeply in the power of collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity. I’m excited to continue fostering a culture where we strive to empower each other with the support and resources we need to achieve our mission,” said Megan.

We are so honored to have Megan as our Executive Director. We look forward to continuing to provide the best possible care and support for our community, while working to prevent domestic and sexual violence altogether.
